Red Door perfumeSo Valentines Day is right around the corner and I have never actually told my husband what I wanted for Valentines Day because I have always figured that it meant more coming from him.  However, this year I’m going to have to slip a few hints, because lets face it chocolate only goes so far.

My idea of the perfect Valentines Day, start the day with breakfast in bed, next a small box of chocolate with one single carnation (red) and a small bottle of  Red Door perfume that I can wear to dinner.  Dinner will be at a very quite and exquisite restaurant so we can spend a nice romantic evening together.  That would be perfect.

women's perfumeHave you ever really looked forward to attending a party only to find out when you get there that every women in the place is wearing a different scent.  Rather it be women’s perfume or scented lotions, it can be a bit over bearing.

I went to such a party, and was so not impressed with all the different perfumes that women wear and to the extent that they apply this perfume.  I am a firm believer that when you walk out of a room your scent should go with you, not linger in the room until you come back.  And if you are going to wear women’s perfume don’t wear scented lotion, that is a big no no!

Ladies, when you apply your perfume try just a little on your pulse points, like your wrists and neck.  If you are not sure how much to put on try spraying a little on a cotton ball and applying it that way.

Women's PerfumeStrangely enough, according to Dr. Alan Hirsch of Chicago Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, you can buy women’s perfume, lotion and powder with the scent of pink grapefruit and appear to be 12 years younger or even 6 pounds lighter.  Testers were all male and said that women would appear to be younger through their eyes.

Now obviously wearing pink grapefruit perfume will not take the place of dieting and exercising however, wouldn’t you try any help you were offered?  I know I would, especially just after the holidays.

Lovely Sarah Jessica ParkerI’m rather curious, why is it that TV commercials feel the need to use half naked women to sell women’s designer perfume?  Could it be that the name alone is not enough?  Elizabeth Arden, Christina Aguilera and Sarah Jessica Parker to mention just a few, could not sell otherwise, I doubt it.

Now men’s cologne seems to sell better by their name alone, or am I just missing those commercials?  Anyway, I think it only fair for commercials to advertise the same with the men, Tim McGraw to name just one.

Chanel ChanceSo, I’m watching my favorite NFL team, Pittsburg Steelers, on Sunday cheering for all I’m worth because I love football and I want them to go to the playoffs.  Wow, they win, however, they still aren’t going to the playoffs, so disappointing.  Now I’m so upset that I feel the need to go shopping.

I have decided that in order to cheer me up I need to buy something for me, something I really love and will make me feel better.  I really love fragrances so I decide to buy some perfume.  Next question is what kind, not a problem because I love the smell of Chanel Chance and really love the way I feel when I’m wearing it.  There may be no hope for Pittsburg this year but I smell good.

Design PerfumeIn 1985 Paul Sebastian launched their first women’s perfume, Design.  Although Paul Sebastian is considered a cologne brand for men, they also offer women’s perfume.  Design perfume, the first of several offered by Paul Sebastian, is classified as a refreshing, floral and soft fragrance.

Even though Paul Sebastian Inc. was sold in 1999 to FFI Fragrances, including Design, Casual, Cigar Aficionado and Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne, they still continue to thrive as a well established name brand.

Women's PerfumeIs it really any wonder that Byonce Knowles finally launches her own women’s perfume?  Several female singers such as Mariah Carey, Faith Hill and Brittney Spears have their own fragrances, it was really only a matter of time.

Over the last few years Byonce has appeared in perfume advertisements for other designers from Armani to Tommy Hilfiger.  Her perfume, Heat, comes packaged in a red triangle bottle and will be released in U.S. stores in February 2010 before going international next summer.

Fancy PerfumeNichole Richie, the one time party girl has been busy over the last few years.  Nicole has made cameo appearance’s on NBC’s “American Dreams” and “Chuck”.

In 2005 Nicole wrote a semi-autobiographical novel, The Truth About Diamonds.  In 2007 she announced plans to start a jewelry, sunglasses and accessories line along with women’s perfume and a style book.  In 2009 Nicole was a member of a rock band called Darling, she also created a clothing collection for a maternity store called A Pea in a Pod.

What is Nicole Richie doing nowadays?  The once star of The Simple Life is starring and producing a half hour comedy for ABC, loosely based on her life.  About her new comedy she states, ” Lately, I have been surrounded by many different women of all ages and walkes of life.  It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a women’s role should be in this era, I have taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special and funny.  We are in the early stages and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.

Red Door perfumeNo matter how much you love someone, or what kind of a role they played in your life, losing them to cancer is always hard.  Regardless of how that person dies it is always tough on everyone concerned.  Such is my life now, even though this particular person was not a daily figure in our family there is still a void.

After you get over the initial loss, you then have to figure out what you are going to wear to the funeral, that, if your are like me, you don’t want to attend anyway because I hate funerals.  So what do you wear, blue, black or is green (dark) acceptable?  Nothing to flashy, and what about the makeup?  My biggest question was what kind of  perfume do I wear?  Is something with a strong scent going to do?  Or do I go with my favorite, which is Red Door perfume?  I have to admit that every funeral I have gone to, the same question arises, what scent do I want to wear so as not to offend anyone.

Zen perfumeWhen you decide to buy a new perfume, how do you decide what you want?  This is a question I’ve asked myself many times with no good answer, so I stick with the same women’s perfume I’ve worn for many years.

Thank God for family and good friends.  When I approached them with the same question I got some really helpful answers.  First, how a bottle is packaged is most surely a reason why I buy a certain perfume.  I want it to look elegant and not plain or macho, so to speak.  Second, how much do I want to spend.  A high quality perfume is normally associated with a higher price tag.  And finally, whatever perfume you may choose, you want it to last all day, so sample it before you buy it.  Spray a little on your wrist, go walk around the store for 20 minutes or so, if it is not to strong or to subtle, it may be what you are looking for.

You can not possibly go wrong if you are completely honest with yourself about what you are looking for.  Last, have fun with it and you will find it is not such a hard decision to make.
