Christmas is the perfect time for me to reflect on the past year. A time for me to think about what I have done for others and what other people have done for me. I could not ever repay my husband, children and grandchildren for their unconditional love and for all their understanding. I also remember why we celebrate Christmas to begin with, the birth of Christ. I always think about the three wise men baring gifts and what those gifts were. Gold, frankincense and myrrh were the gifts presented to the Baby Jesus.
In biblical days Queen Esther was bathed in oil of myrrh for six months and another six months in other aloes and perfumes before she was presented to the king, this was how women would beautify themselves. Now days we use myrrh in aromatherapy candles for healing, purifying and uplifting. Myrrh oil is also used to help alleviate wrinkles and also to uplift skin and rejuvenate mature complexions. The Greek culture used myrrh oil as part of their soldiers combat gear because of it’s very high antiseptic and anti inflammatory properties.
