The British retailer Debenhams revealed in a press release that the average British women’s cosmetic bag is out of date by a worrying 4 years. This is rather concerning because beauty essentials such as, women’s perfume, foundation, blush, mascara, lipstick, eye shadow and liner, and concealer all have a “period after opening” indicator with the number of months of safe use. Make up, perfume and skin care products carry a risk of irritation and infection. Women’s perfume and men’s cologne, when kept to long will lose it’s scent strength.
Your eyes are the one area on your face that you should be very careful with, eye infections can be very painful and long lasting. So to protect yourself, wash your cosmetic brushes and sponges weekly, sponges are perfect for carrying bacteria when kept to long and not washed. Replace make up and such regularly, before expiration date and never share your make up, especially eye shadow, liner and mascara, due to cross contamination and always wash your make up off before going to bed. It is always better to be safe then sorry.
Have you ever noticed that the majority of the women you run into wear makeup? So, stop and try to remember how many of these women really know how to apply their makeup? I have taken notice lately and I have to say alot of them wear it to thick or maybe to light or some just need to change the makeup that they use.
I have found that clinique makeup carries the best line of makeup for my skin type, which is rather oily. The biggest mistake that I see women make is the way that they blend their makeup. Some don’t, that is the first thing that I notice when I put on my makeup, it is not necessary for people to know you are wearing it because they see the line where your makeup stops, blend it in, that way we know your wearing it because it looks natural. I can’t say it enough, blend, blend and blend.
The best skin care products can only get you so far. You need to give some thought and consideration to the type of makeup you use. Always go for a premium brand, such as Clinique makeup, as they will be less likely to irritate your skin. And be sure to clean your tools regularly. Things such as cosmetic brushes get dirty and can carry bacteria and germs and may cause skin irritations and breaking out.
One of the leading cosmetic authorities suggests that cosmetic brushes be thoroughly cleaned at least twice a month. A good way is to soak brushes for about 10 minutes in a dish of warm, soapy water using mild liquid detergent or baby shampoo. Rinse and blot excess moisture with a towel and stand the brushes, handle end down, in a tall glass until they are thoroughly dry.
I can remember as a child watching my mom put on Helena Rubinstein makeup and I always admired how pretty she was. Now as an adult I’ve wondered why Helena Rubinstein? So I did some checking and found her life to be very interesting.
Helena was born in 1870 Cracow, Poland and in 1888 she moved to Melbourne, within 2 years her reputation was secure. In 1915 her family moved to the United States where American women were reluctant to accept facial make up. However, after little more then a year 1 salon wouldn’t do so she opened 7 more, 2 of which were in Canada.
In 1964 she was burglarized, tied to a chair and threatened, and still refused to tell them where the key to her safe was and the robbers left empty handed. Princess Gourielli – Madame Helena Rubinstein died of natural causes in a New York hospital on April1, 1965 at the age of 94.
I am the kind of person that is sort of anal about my makeup, not to much, not to little, nothing I buy seems to be what I actually wanted when I get it home and try it out, the color is never right especially when it comes to lipstick and lip liner. It seems that when I get home and use it I normally always hate it. Trust me when I say it gets a little pricey after awhile.
Now take mascara, my skin is very oily and it is hard to find mascara that doesn’t run or smudge after an hour or so. I have tried clinique makeup in the past, just not the mascara. I read that clinique gentle waterproof mascara long wear lash intensifier doesn’t smudge or run and it doesn’t clump together like some do. I tried it and I love it, it lasts all day and is very easy to remove. It gives you a more natural look, not like the long, really thick movie star lashes. I can now stop looking for the perfect mascara, I think I found it.
Because we are more health conscience and environmentally aware, there is a great interest in mineral makeup. The most exciting part of mineral makeup is that it does not contain the harsh preservatives or fillers that makeup industries generally use. Minerals also serve as a natural sunscreen against the sun’s harsh UV rays, it is highly water resistant and is incredibly long lasting, for example, Clinique makeup, just to name one of many, is perfect for combination skin and mineral makeup promotes balanced texture and skin tone.
The pros on mineral makeup keep growing, it is cost effective because you use less to achieve the same results as you would with conventional makeup. Minerals are also highly recommended by dermatologists to treat rosacea and women with sensitive skin, also for post operative and laser procedures because it soothes the skin and is also an anti inflammatory.
If you haven’t tried mineral makeup you should , and then you’ll be among the many women who are thrilled with mineral makeup.
