Mineral Bath SaltsWhat women doesn’t love bath mineral salts?  I know I sure do, the way you feel and smell after you have soaked in the tub and relaxed?  It is so refreshing.  Here is a great recipe for salts that I think you will like, and it also makes for a great gift.

In an air tight container, take 1 cup epsom salts 1/4 cup sea salts and 2-3 tablespoons baking soda, mix well, add to this your favorite essential oil, start with a few drops and check for the fragrance strength you desire then add several drops of whatever color food coloring you desire, place lid on container and shake vigorously until ingredients are throughly combined.

The proper way to add bath mineral salts to your tub is to pour into an empty tub under running water.  This will let the salts dissolve throughly, it is important to use warm water and not hot.  DO NOT pour into tub that is already full.  Soak and enjoy the scent it leaves on you and in the room.

Vitality Aromatherapy CandleFor thousands of years essential oils have been used for healing and spiritual purposes.  Essential oils are not limited to aromatherapy candles and oils, but are also used in soaps and shampoos, which may be more economical for some.

Here are some of the more popular oils and their uses, Patchouli is used for spiritual purposes and meditation and also helps fight depression, Grapefruit rejuvenates and wakes up your senses, Lemon is used to prevent mold growth and the smell of mildew, also purifies the air, Lavender has a calming and soothing effect on your emotions, Tea Tree Oil is used as an antiseptic and anti-fungal and is also a natural way to kill head lice, Chamomile is also calming and also aids in sleep and de-stressing.

Welcome year 2010

January 3, 2010

Vitality Aromatherapy CandleAs much as I love to see Christmas come, love to decorate my house with all the lights.  I really love the smell of the house while you are cooking pumpkin pie, apple pie and cookies with homemade bread, makes me want Christmas back just thinking about all that.  I really enjoy watching friends and family open their gifts, and of course opening my own.  My favorite gift this year was a basket of aromatherapy candles of different sizes and scents.  It was really great.

Now I’m happy to say that my house is totally back to normal, whatever that is, and everything is back in it’s own place.  I am really hopeful that the year 2010 holds lots of great surprises and tons of happiness for your family and mine.

Jasmine Aromatherapy CandleChristmas is the perfect time for me to reflect on the past year.  A time for me to think about what I have done for others and what other people have done for me.  I could not ever repay my husband, children and grandchildren for their unconditional love and for all their understanding.  I also remember why we celebrate Christmas to begin with, the birth of Christ.  I always think about the three wise men baring gifts and what those gifts were.  Gold, frankincense and myrrh were the gifts presented to the Baby Jesus.

In biblical days Queen Esther was bathed in oil of myrrh for six months and another six months in other aloes and perfumes before she was presented to the king, this was how women would beautify themselves.  Now days we use myrrh in aromatherapy candles for healing, purifying and uplifting.  Myrrh oil is also used to help alleviate wrinkles and also to uplift skin and rejuvenate mature complexions.   The Greek culture used myrrh oil as part of their soldiers combat gear because of it’s very high antiseptic and anti inflammatory properties.

Aromatherapy Soy CandleI love Christmas, it really is the most wonderful time of the year, the lights, the snow (even though I don’t like the cold) the ground all covered in white, the trees covered and all the different colored lights against the snow, how very pretty.  I really enjoy going shopping and seeing all the stores decorated and the sound of Christmas music, it is so great.  The best part to me is Christmas morning and getting to watch the kids open gifts and the looks on their faces, how very innocent.

Now the not so fun part is the stress that goes along with the Christmas shopping, the traffic, the snowy roads and it seems I can never find a decent parking spot so I have to walk forever (it feels) to get in the mall just to fight the many people that probably feel the same stress that I do.  However, the great part is going home getting everything taken care of, settling down to a nice hot bath with 2 or 3 aromatherapy candles burning and being able to put the season back into perspective.  What a great time of the year.

Serenity Aromatherapy CandlesWhen looking for the perfect Christmas gift for someone special I used to find it a bit overwhelming and even difficult.  However, I have found that aromatherapy products can certainly be that perfect gift you may be looking for.

You can find such a wide variety, from aromatherapy candles to essential oils, burners, along with bath and spa treatments.  It doesn’t matter what the occasion, Christmas, birthday or showers, aromatherapy gifts are great to give and to receive.

All women enjoy pampering themselves once in awhile, but not all women take the time or spend the money on themselves, that is where you come in.  All you need to do is think about what kind of person she is, what kind of life does she lead and would she benefit from a reduction in stress or how about an increase in energy?  You can find whatever kind of aromatherapy she needs, include a message as a personal touch.  You can make all the differance in someone’s day by just selecting aromatherapy gifts.

bath-mineral-saltsMost people are well aware of the nutritional benefits of sodium, potassium and calcium. Each of these minerals is required by the body for dietary purposes, and they keep us healthy and functioning at peak condition. Still, the beneficial properties of minerals go far beyond the dietary realm. Bath mineral salts add therapeutic value to what would otherwise be a routine bathing experience.

Calcium is highly touted for increasing circulation and cleansing clogged pores. Sodium bolsters the immune system and binds together with water to alleviate dry skin. It also helps with the regular functions of cells – collecting nourishment and expunging waste materials. Potassium adds a vital boost of energy to the body; people who put on water weight are usually experiencing potassium deficiency.

aromatic soy candleIf your stressed out or just want to focus, aromatherapy candles can help.  Over 6000 years ago the egyptians used aromatherapy in baths and massages.  In the 1930’s it became an alternative method of healing.

Today, aromatherapy candles are used widely to heal the mind, body & spirit.  Essential oils in the candles flow through your body to set the right mood.

If  you have had a long day at work, had a long day with the kids, aromatherapy candles can melt the stress away.  Just light the candle, sit back with a good book or just relax and begin to feel the differance.
