Recession hasn’t effected sales of make-up
It would seem that the recession has unfortunately forced most of us to cut back on alot of things such as clothes, dining out and even the holidays. Yet it seems women have no intention of giving up their make-up.
According to a trend, know as the lipstick factor, figures show that the few things weathering this recession is perfume, eyeshadow and especially lipstick.
Women figure if they can only afford limited luxury then a tube of lipstick is inexpensive by comparision. Women are not however, saving pennies to buy the cheap brands. Research suggest’s that they are treating themselves to top quality brands such as Helena Rubinstein, Clinique makeup and Estee Lauder, just to name a few.
During the Great Depression of the 1930’s experts say that rising unemployment and tough competition for jobs made women want to look their best. Generally speaking, cosmetics have seen a year on year increase in sales during the downtime.
