Coco Chanel’s Chance
Gabriel Chanel was born August 19, 1883. After the death of her mother, her father gave her up and she subsequently grew up in an orphanage in Correze. She was given the name Coco after a song about a lost dog called Coco.
In 1910 she decided to impose her line of clothing. In 1921 the creator of Chanel No 5 (his first perfume) presented it to Coco with 2 series of number samples, when asked “what name will you give it?” she answered I launch my collection on May 5th, May being the fifth month of the year leave it No 5. Coco drew the original bottle (very simple) and said that what was in the bottle was much more significant.
Pierre Wertheimer, a famous businessman (owner of the Bourjois Company) was entrusted by Coco to manufacture and distribute her perfumes. The Wertheimer family always holds the Chanel Company. In 2002 the fragrance Chanel Chance was distributed to the United States and Canada, and made it’s apperance in the European and Asian countries in 2003. Chance is a refined blend of jasmine and citrus.
